Using the class AbtLnDatabase you can open, close, create, or delete existing databases either locally or on a remote server, provided you have the proper authorization. You can read and change the database title.

Note that all security mechanisms remain in force. There is a variety of protocols to open a database. The recommended way to open a database is through an AbtLnConnection.
