1. In the Applications and Parts panes of the Organizer, select the applications, subapplications, and parts that you want to file out.

2. From the Applications or Parts menu, select Import/Export > File Out.

3. A prompter opens, asking if you want to generate archival code. Select Yes if you are filing out parts created in the Composition Editor and have not generated archival code for the application before. Select No if you are filing out Smalltalk parts or, if you are filing out parts created in the Composition Editor, have the archival code in a separate application.

4. If you select Yes, a prompter asks you which application should contain the archival code. Generate the archival code into an application other than the one used to make the application. Thus, select Create, name an application to hold the code, and OK. Then, in the Archival Application prompter, select OK.

5. In the displayed file prompter, specify a full path name for the file that will contain the filed-out code, and select OK.
